DAY ONE: Thursday, January 22
{Opening Day}
  • ALL DAY SHOP 'TIL YOU DROP - Shop in our boutiques and specialty gift stores in town and at The Tanger Outlet Center throughout the day.
  • WINTERFEAST 5:30pm - 7:30pm – A fabulous display of culinary delights as the best restaurants in the Blowing Rock area come together for this once a year event.  Join us for this fabulous dinner that will kick off Blowing Rock Winterfest 2009!  Advance Reservations are available by calling 828-295-9627.  Tickets may be purchsed online, at the Blowing Rock Chamber, or at the door.  Seatings: 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30 pm. Advance tickets are $25 and $30 at the door.  Cash, check, or charge cards accepted at the door. Cash bar available.
 
DAY TWO: Friday, January 23
  • ALL DAY SHOP 'TIL YOU DROP - Shop in our boutiques and specialty gift stores in town and at The Tanger Outlet Center throughout the day.
  • 3:00pm FREE Hot Chocolate Begins - Downtown
  • 3:00pm FREE Hayrides Begin - Courtesy of Mountain View Realty - Hayrides Depart from the Parking Lot north of the intersection of Hwy 221 & Main Street
  • DUSK BONFIRE - Weather permitting in Memorial Park. Make your own toasted marshmallows or smores. All supplies provided.
  • 7:30pm Winter Blues Festival - Enjoy a cool night of hot blues with The King Bees and a variety of other groups. Hayes Performing Arts Center
 
DAY THREE: Saturday, January 24
  • ALL DAY SHOP 'TIL YOU DROP - Shop in our boutiques and specialty gift stores in town and at The Tanger Outlet Center throughout the day.
  • 9am RAFFLE & SILENT AUCTION BEGINS - Purchase your raffle tickets for a chance to win fantastic prizes.   Don't forget the Silent Auction. - Located in the Blowing Rock School Cafeteria on Morris St.
  • 10am CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES - Parents are invited to accompany their children for activities. Activities scheduled in Blowing Rock Parks and Rec Activity Center behind Memorial Park.
  • 10am THE POLAR PLUNGE - Watch the fearless contenders take the Plunge into Chetola Lake . Sponsored by Chetola Resort. The #1 spectator sport in Blowing Rock. Don’t miss it! New Polar Plungers are welcome. It costs only $25 to jump, and the proceeds go local charities! Get Our Polar Plunge Registration Form and the Polar Plunge Liability Form.

D-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s! - CASI Sponsored Chili Cook-Off!  Taste a wide variety of chili concocted by the pros.  Restaurants as well as individuals will be serving up spicy or mild, chunky and smooth and Brunswick Stew for your tasting pleasure along with live music from The Renegar Brothers.  Located at the Blowing Rock School Gymnasium on Morris Street.  Chili Cook-Off Application.  Tickets available at the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, The Hayes Performing Arts Series or online.
  • Noon - ICE CARVING COMPETITION - Come see the best in the business turn blocks of ice into enchanting works of art.  Brought to you by Ice Sensations FREE - Downtown Blowing Rock - Memorial Park
  • 2pm - THE WINE TASTING - Enjoy tasting a wide selection of fabulous wines from all over the world.   Representatives will be on hand to talk about the characteristics of the many different wines which will be available for purchase.  The Winterfest Wine Tasting is followed by the Wine Auction. Located at Meadowbrook Inn. Purchase Tickets at the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce or Online. Sponsored by WNC Magazine and North Carolina Signature Magazine.
  • 4pm THE WINE AUCTION - Let the bidding begin!  An outstanding selection of wines will be auctioned at the 10th Annual Winterfest Wine Auction.  A big crowd always turns out so come early. Located at Meadowbrook Inn.  Sponsored by WNC Magazine.
  • 7:30pm WINTERFEST Concert - The John Cowan Band in Concert.  One of the most significant voices in acoustic music the last thirty years.  An influential innovator of modern bluegrass, Cowan's latest album, Tattoo will delight both bluegrass and acoustic fans.  Come listen to a true bluegrass legend in concert.  $25 at the Hayes Performing Arts Center

DAY FOUR: Sunday January 25
  • 8:00 am WINTERFEST PANCAKE BREAKFAST - Join us Sunday from 8:00 am - 11:00 am at the Blowing Rock School Cafeteria on Morris Street just off of Main Street for a delicious pancake breakfast hosted by Knights On Main.  Proceeds will go to Blowing Rock Fire and Rescue and the volunteers will be helping to serve you with all the trimmings.  Tickets are available at the door or online.
  • ALL DAY SHOP 'TIL YOU DROP - Shop in our boutiques and specialty gift stores in town and at The Tanger Outlet Center throughout the day.
  • 1pm "WINTER PAWS " Pet Show - Located in the American Legion Hall; Co-Sponsored by the Watauga County Humane Society
