Polar Bear Plunge at Chetola Lake

The Polar Bear Plunge in Chetola Lake is one of the highlights of WinterFest. It’s FREE to watch as a spectator, and $35 to TAKE THE PLUNGE into the lake! Proceeds benefit local charities and plungers can select one of our designated charities to benefit! Plungers should arrive between 8-9am to sign a waiver and hear the safety rules. Plunging will begin at 10 am. All Plungers should plan to wear shoes the entire time to protect their feet.
All plungers who register by January 7th, 2020 will receive a commemorative Polar Plunge long-sleeved t-shirt in their chosen size. Plungers registering online between January7-25 are not guaranteed a t-shirt in their requested size. Pre-registrants will also be entered into a drawing for a complimentary gift card to Chetola Resort.
All plungers must check-in at the registration table located in the Chetola Lodge 2nd Floor Foyer upon arrival to sign a waiver and receive a wristband to plunge. Registration will begin at 8am. Day-of registration will be available for $40, and a small assortment of additional t-shirts will be available on a first come, first served basis for an additional $10 per Plunger. Chetola starts cutting through the layer of ice well in advance so Plungers can feel the full impact! Agonize with your favorite “Plunger”, most in costume, while enjoying the antics and one liners of our plunge emcee, WBTV News Anchor John Carter! Judges will award the famous “Golden Plunger” award to the best costumes. Plungers begin jumping around 10 am, but be sure to get there early for good viewing! Hot chocolate and coffee will be available for purchase to keep you warm and toasty.
