Watch fearless contenders take the Plunge. The Polar Bear Plunge in Chetola Lake is one of the highlights at WinterFest. Chetola starts cutting through the layer of ice well in advance so Plungers can feel the full impact! Judges will award the famous “Golden Plunger” award to the best costume.  Free admission for spectators.

Day-of registration and check-in begins at 8am in the Chetola Lodge 2nd floor foyer (pre-registration online is encouraged ). Plungers gather in the indoor pool area at 9:45am for a safety speech and then groups of about 15 people at a time will start with the annual march to Chetola Lake. Participants begin jumping at 10am, but get there early for good viewing! Proceeds will benefit local charities. Make sure to bring a TOWEL and BLANKET for when you exit the lake!!

Last-minute plungers will still be able to sign up the morning of the Polar Bear Plunge in the Chetola Lodge 2nd floor foyer. Day-of event registration is $35 per person and begins at 8am. Pre-registrants who register by January 17, 2023 will receive a commemorative beanie. Plunge begins promptly at 10am.

 

**Absolutely no one under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be allowed to participate in the plunge.

Bonfire, S’mores and Entertainment at Chetola Resort

Chetola will host an evening of outdoor winter fun at their firepit beside Chetola Lake each night of WinterFest. They’ll have a cash bar with winter drink specials, gourmet s’mores packets ($5 each) and entertainment for the whole family. Entertainment specifics will be added as the event approaches and could include live music, storytelling and giant board games.
