Chetola will host an evening of outdoor winter fun at their firepit beside Chetola Lake each night of WinterFest. They’ll have a cash bar with winter drink specials, gourmet s’mores packets ($5 each) and entertainment for the whole family. Entertainment specifics will be added as the event approaches and could include live music, storytelling and giant board games.
Watch fearless contenders take the Plunge. The Polar Plunge in Chetola Lake is one of the highlights at WinterFest. Chetola starts cutting through the layer of ice well in advance so Plungers can feel the full impact! Agonize with your favorite “Plunger”, most in costume, while enjoying the antics and one liners of Emcee John Carter, WBTV news anchor! Judges will award the famous “Golden Plunger” award to the best costume. Day-of registration and check-in begins at 8am in the Chetola boardroom (pre-registration online is encouraged and is less expensive). Plungers gather in the indoor pool area at 9:45am for a safety speech and then the party starts with the annual march to Chetola Lake. Participants begin jumping at 10am, but get there early for good viewing! Proceeds will benefit local charities.
Last-minute plungers will still be able to sign up the morning of the Polar Plunge in the Boardroom on the 1st Floor of Chetola. Day-of event registration is $40 per person and begins at 8am. Pre-registrants who register by January 4, 2019 will receive a commemorative long-sleeved t-shirt in their chosen size; those registering online between January 5-25 are not guaranteed a t-shirt in their requested size. Pre-registrants will also be entered into a drawing for a complimentary massage at the Spa at Chetola Resort on the day of the plunge! Day-of registrants will have the opportunity to purchase a shirt for an additional $10 at registration; sizes and availability will be first come, first served. Plunge begins promptly at 10am.
**Absolutely no one under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be allowed to participate in the plunge.

In 2018, we introduced a successful new format we’ll continue for this event! In order to alleviate the crowd of people in the bar waiting for tables, we made more room in the bar and hosted a Post-Feast Party in the Appalachian/Blue Ridge Room. Enjoy live music, cash bar and warm beverages while you wait. After dinner, head upstairs for your desserts, coffee and tea, and more entertainment!
Culinary delights abound when the best restaurants of the High Country gather for WinterFeast, a Restaurant Crawl in the dead of winter all located under one warm and cozy roof! Enjoy small plate selections prepared by the area’s best chefs to satiate every taste and appetite. With 15 different restaurants, the opportunities are abundant. Peruse the selections, take your seat, and enjoy your favorite beverages from the cash bar. This event has sold out for the past six years, so don’t delay.
This is a “Cruise Style” seating event. We cannot guarantee all parties sitting together, but we will try. The earlier the request, the more likely we can accommodate!
Choose from 3 seatings – 5:30pm, 6:45pm and 8:00pm
