Ice Carving Demonstrations

Artisan Ice Sculptures has again joined forces with Blowing Rock WinterFest to bring you the best ice carving event you’ve seen in quite a while – at least since last year!    Come by Memorial Park from 10am until 4pm to see what the Artisan Ice team is creating.  You’ll be amazed at the creations these guys do. A definite “Must See” event!

Be sure to thank The Homestead Inn and Alpine Village Inn for assisting our ice carving team!

Hands-On Ice Carving

Help carver Cathleen Gallagher create an ice sculpture! Children and adults will be able to assist Cathleen as she creates a polar bear from a block of ice. Hand chisels and safety goggles will be provided.

Cathleen Gallagher is from Green Bay, WI. She is married with 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. She moved to Huntersville, NC in 2012. She has been carving for 20 years in Green Bay winter festivals. Last year at WinterFest, she did a hands-on carving of a penguin at BRAHM that let children and adults get a feel for sculpting. Since most professional carvers don’t want their art touched or ruined, this is the perfect opportunity to discover the next ice carving artists in the community. Cathleen comes from a family of 10 and all of them are ice/snow artists, because when you live in Wisconsin there is so much snow and cold, it only makes sense to have fun with it! She is glad to have found Blowing Rock WinterFest to get back to her bliss.
